Harper’s Easy Apple Bacon Pecan Cinnamon Roll Bake

Every so often I want to make something sweet and bacon-y and wonderful, but I don’t want to spend hours on it. Sometimes even this Mama, who loves to cook, wants a tasty and impressive looking dish that’s easy too. One weekend, when Harper was pestering me to whip up something good, and to make sure it included bacon, Mama got creative. The dish we came up with is great for breakfast, brunch, dessert, or any potluck you might ever get invited to. Without further ado: Harper’s Easy Apple Bacon Pecan Cinnamon Roll Bake

Serves: 8 Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 tube refrigerated cinnamon rolls (the standard size not the smaller one) any kind you prefer
  • 1 can apple pie filling (store bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup chunky apple sauce (homemade or store bought)
  • 5 slices bacon (cooked crisp)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

1

preheat oven to 350 degrees F

2

Butter or spray a 9 by 13 cake pan.

3

Using a rolling pin roll out each uncooked cinnamon roll. I placed mine between sheets of wax paper to keep the mess at minimum.

4

Arrange the flattened cinnamon rolls on the bottom of the cake pan to cover the entire bottom. Cut up the last couple to fill in gaps as needed.

5

Mix the applesauce and apple pie filling in a bowl and spoon over the cinnamon rolls.

6

Stir together the pecans and the bacon and sprinkle on top.

7

Place in oven and bake for 30 minutes or until done.

8

The cinnamon roll will rise to create a crust around the edges, as that browns it is fully cooked.

9

Once done drizzle with the cinnamon roll icing

We had recently made applesauce at home so we used homemade but I honestly just used store bought apple pie filling I had laying around. While we went with apple bacon this could easily be made with cherry pie filling or any fruit you and your family love, and if nut allergies are an issue of course you can leave them out, or make a quick oat crumble topping for crunch. This was a family favorite. My Hubby and kids ate it hot and loved it so much they finished off the leftovers cold, not bothering to reheat. It is definitely a crowd pleaser, and an easy one at that.
